Key images

Key images:
Here I am going to explain the five key images of my animatic that I thought were most effective for our trailer.
The first image is an image of Blake stood in front of a mirror looking at his phone, the antagonist is stood behind him, her face is in a long screaming expression to show terror and fear and when looking at the photograph it gives the audience a chilling effect. The image is dark and the thing that stands out the most is the character stood behind Blake and the flash of the camera, representing that the film is based around cameras.

The second key image is the graveyard. This is an important shot as it represents death which is what the main part of the film is about it also represents the first key part of the film where Blake’s events in his life start to go downhill. Graveyards are stereotypically related to horror films. The angle of the camera is taken from behind the wall that is not in the graveyard, this suggests that someone is watching Blake and spying on him but the character who’s watching him can’t be seen making the audience question who the character is making them want to watch the film to find out.

The third key image is the image of Blake smiling with his friend, this image shows innocence and happiness. Throughout the animatic we see as an audience that Blake is not the person who he implies, he is actually the bully and the antagonist is only getting revenge for the bullying that he was put through. The image of Blake smiling with his friend makes the audience vulnerable into thinking that Blake is the good character and this gives the audience more of a shock towards the end of the animatic.

The fourth image is Blake looking at his computer screen and viewing images, this over the shoulder shot shows Blake’s hobby and that photography is something that he is passionate, this also gives the audience the first insight into what Blake is most passionate about and also what the film trailer is going to be about. Photography is something that creates images of happy memories so that we physically have a copy of the happy times that we want to share but in this case photographs are what destroy Blake as an individual and makes him Bully and threaten the antagonist.

The final image is of messages of a conversation that has happened between Blake and his mother, the messages of ‘Blake help!’ and ‘Blake he’s coming!’ creates a sense of fear and panic for that character as it’s the last couple of minutes that he spends with his mother. The biggest fear we have as humans is losing our loved ones around us and this became a reality for Blake. The image also places a sense of fear into the audience and almost scares them into not wanting to bully anyone and as a film this is the message that we hope to send across.
