Creating my poster - Final step

This is my final poster, the final step involved me adding the most important part of the poster which was the photographs of the victims and the photo frames. I took pictures of the grand photo frames to represent wealth but also cleanliness, the photo frames are the  complete opposite of the rough background that can be seen on the poster, because the plot is about bullying I wanted to show that the reason the bullying has happened is because of differences and people not accepting others for who they are on the outside and the inside. I made the photographs of the memories black and white because  black’s most common association is power, authority and strength. It is for this reason that too much black can become overwhelming, in stories and films of good versus evil black and darkness is always symbolic of the villain and white represents innocence, this shows that everyone has some evil and some good within them.

Overall I think that my poster was successful and followed all of the codes and conventions that makes a poster suitable to promote and advertise my trailer.

Creating my poster - second step

For the second step of creating my poster I added bloody hands to increase the knowledge to the audience that the trailer was of a horror genre. I took a close up image of the bloody hands that were created using fake blood, the reason I only took a picture of the hands and not the arms or face of the actress was because I wanted to keep the person hidden so it left the audience in suspense of who that character was and why they had blood on their hands, therefore not exposing them like the title of the film is called. The colour of the blood in the original image was dull and blended in too much with the background not making is stand out enough so using the software of Photoshop I contrasted the image and gave it a lighter colour effect making the blood more vibrant and the hands look more pale giving the audience the idea that the person with blood on their hands may be dead if the circulation in the hands has gone. The reason behind the hands being in a raised position when I took the image was because I wanted the audience to feel involved when looking at the poster and because they cant see the face and the hands are facing them they may put themselves in that characters shoes and question what the film EXPOSURE is really about.

Creating my poster - first step

I started by creating the background of my film poster, I wanted the background to look rough, Through inspiration from the film poster sinister I used a grey shaded background to the wall using Photoshop to give an eerie feel to the wall, on the wall some cracks can be seen therefore giving the idea of an element of destruction. Following the key codes and conventions I played my title for my poster of 'EXPOSURE' at the top of the poster and the tag line 'shoot the bully, frame the victim, hang the protector' above it was clear for the audience to read. I chose to make the font of the text white for several reasons, the first being that white represents innocence and this was a key feature throughout the trailer as we could see how peoples confidence was broken and in the bullies case how confidence made them a revengeful person. The effect on the title of EXPOSURE is shadowed which again reiterates the horror genre and relating it to the plot of EXPOSURE could be the idea of the bully always shadowing the victim and vice versa.

The billing block was a vital convention that needed to be included in the film poster and film trailer. It followed the key codes and conventions that make successful products but also it includes important parts of information that promotes and advertises the trailer to the target audience. For example, the billing block includes the date of when the film is being released, this is important because in order for our product to be successful we need an audience to watch the film and buy the magazine and posters to promote EXPOSURE. Another way in which the audience can promote the film and products is through the social media and websites that are provided at the bottom of the billing block. Our target audience age range is 15-25 and through research and planning statistics show that 95% of this age group use social media so through the use of multimedia platforms this would be a way of advertising our products to the audience who are of a younger age.
