Target audience:

Stereotypically horror films are aimed at males due to them having to act more masculine and that they can handle any fear that is thrown in their direction but I think that our animatic is based to both genders and age groups of 15+. Bullying is something major that happens to everyone in their lifetime, whether it being physical or verbal but the impact is huge and often can cause depression that affects the human brain. The film is mainly based at a younger target audience for those who are in school, college or university as this is where the majority of bullying takes place.

The younger generation are more appealed to the use of technology, using phones and social media. I think that this also encouraged the target audience to be younger because of this; it would appeal more to this range of people. I think both male and females equally enjoy photography and the talent that it takes for someone to take a photograph.

Experience of making an animatic

I had never had experience of creating an animatic before or heard what an animatic was. After conducting research and looking at examples of animatics I then had a full understanding of what an animatic was and what my task would consist of. The storyboard was a big contribution to making the animatic as it helped us a group to place the shots in order and when making the storyboard we also planned what props we needed, the number of locations and also the length of time in seconds each shot needed to be. We wanted to be organized as a group, we each had a copy of the picture of the storyboard and assigned one another roles whether this was bringing a prop to the shoot or being in charge of shooting the pictures on that scheduled day, We also each had a plan of the shooting schedule and due to our organizational skills only had 8 shoots in total. We had 3 main locations all together which included a grave yard, living room and a photo studio which was made by transforming an office within the same house, the locations were easily accessible and we had full permission of the house owners to shoot there. We were unable to shoot the scene of Blake kneeling at the grave due to the cemetery being closed so as an improvement for the filming process we will have to be more organized in making sure that the places we want to film at are open. In the animatic I think that the pictures that were taken could have been a bit more accurate to the storyboard however there is room for improvement for this within the filming process, At the beginning of the animatic process we had assigned a pupil in our year as the main role as Blake however due to school pressures the actor was unable to make that commitment, after a long period of time we struggled to find a male actor who could fulfil the role as Blake so using our initiative to overcome the situation we decided to change the gender of the main role from Male to Female. Due to our film being about social media, bullying and the misuse of photography everybody is a victim and everyone has had bad experiences so any gender could fit the personality role of the character Blake.
